What was your first therapy session like?

As a therapist, I wish i had a dollar for every time I heard how awful someone's first therapy experience was. It is actually heartbreaking to know that there are so many people out there that shy away from giving therapy another go based on these experiences. As a result, they may not seek the support they need, which can result in a diminished quality of life, or for some, prove to be life threatening.  For those that have been able to muster up enough courage to try again, you deserve a therapist that will listen, and understand your needs before attempting to support. Our slogan to listen, understand and support exists for this very purpose. Empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard designed to be the bare minimum when it comes to therapeutic support. as a client, you DO have a say in the type of therapist you need and want to support you along this journey. I encourage you to go ahead and ask questions, change your mind and keep searching for the best fit - not doing so can have a very lasting impact that may prevent you from reaching out for support if needed in future.
